Welcome to Music Class!

 

To My Budding Musicians, 

      As summer comes to an end, it is time to start getting ready for school. My name is Kathryn Dauer and I will be the new General and Vocal music teacher at Hopewell Elementary School this year! I just finished my undergraduate degree in Vocal Music Education at Ithaca College this past spring, and I am very excited to be joining the Hopewell Elementary School staff. 

      I am so excited to bring my love of music to the classroom every day!  I play many instruments including the piano, ukulele, guitar, trumpet, violin, organ, as well as being a singer. I have a vast array of dance and musical theater experiences which I am excited to bring to the Hopewell Elementary School stage! 

      This year in music students will be singing, playing, dancing and creating music every class. All students at Hopewell Elementary School take general music during their specials class rotation! Fourth and fifth graders will also take choir in addition to general music class. 

      In addition to this fourth and fifth grade students have even more musical opportunities. Both the Select Vocal Ensemble and Orff Ensemble will be returning this year as extracurricular clubs. More information on membership and meeting times will be provided to students within the first few weeks of school! 

      I look forward to meeting  all of the budding musicians at Hopewell Elementary during the first week of school! I can barely wait to begin making music and creating memories in music class with every single one of you!
