Dear Parents/Guardian,
The counseling program at St Leo the Great School works with students individually, in
classroom settings and in small groups to help develop skills and strategies to promote
educational success. Small groups are designed to support students through many
phases of growth and change during their elementary school years. Additionally,
small groups allow social learning experiences and a chance for students to express
themselves.
This year we are excited to continue our small groups called Lunch Bunches. The goal
of the Lunch Bunch program is to develop skills in different areas such as friendship,
communication, anger management, study skills and social skills. Students usually
enjoy interacting with their peers in a small group setting and are comforted by
discovering that other children are navigating the same challenges they are
experiencing as well. These groups meet for approximately 20 minutes once a week
for 4-5 weeks during their lunch in the counselor’s office. During this time, the students
will have conversations, play fun games, learn new skills, and share what they have experienced.
Parent/Guardian permission is requested for student participation in the Lunch Bunch
program. A form will be sent out by grade, if you would like your child to participate.
Please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail at [email protected] if you have any
questions about the program.
