Course Description: 

 

Physical Education’s curriculum is to address varying levels of skills, abilities, relationships, fears, goals, sports and games throughout three marking periods. The courses will focus on the history and development of various sports, games, adventure education and various activities that deal with cooperation, critical thinking and problem-solving skills all wrapped up into friendly competition. The safety, rules, procedures, equipment, techniques, proper mechanics, sportsmanship, competition, tournament and bracket play and strategies will be modeled by teachers and be taught by students. All drills and exercises will be integrated throughout the year to develop proper execution of all skills and techniques of each activity.

 

During the fitness segment of class, students will have the opportunity to work on their personal fitness goals. These goals are specific to each individual, therefore, there should be many opportunities for students to reach those goals. The teacher will have many options for students to change their workout routines and stay engaged everyday. Students will have experience in health and sport related fitness components. 

 

Students are encouraged every day to be 1% better than yesterday for personal growth. The teacher will create a safe environment for students to feel comfortable and respected by their peers. This will lead to more involvement of students' interaction and participation.

 

Classroom Goals:

  1. I want to create an environment where students feel comfortable, safe and respected by peers in their class where they can be the leaders of the class. Creating a rapport!

  2. Students will teach other students in instruction for games/sports/cooperative learning/fitness. This will create a higher level of learning and critical thinking.

  3. Team building activities, cooperation, communication, collaboration activities and give positive feedback to their peers

 

Course Goals:

  1. The student will acquire knowledge of strength and fitness, sport and game activity

  2. Identify and develop the basic skills in different varieties of sports, games and basic fitness routines.

  3. Increase coordination and muscle development.

  4. Develop proper safety procedures, team play, etiquette, and the ability to work well with fellow students.

  5. Acquire carry-over skills and attitudes concerning Physical Education.

  6. Hopefully acquire a new love in something you didn’t have interest in before.

 

Class Policies:

  1. Be on time for class

  2. Proper Physical Education attire: athletic clothing, closed shoes (no boots, crocs or slippers).

  3. No hanging jewelry 

  4. No food or drink is permitted in the gym areas or field, except for water

  5. All electronic devices are prohibited in PE class, unless instructed by teacher

    1. NO PHONES OR AIRPODS

  6. It’s a recommendation that all individuals always wash hands immediately after class

  7. Be respectful

  8. HAVE FUN
