A high school sports medicine program introduces students to careers in sports medicine, athletic training, physical therapy, and related fields through classroom learning and hands-on experience, covering topics like injury prevention, first aid, rehabilitation, anatomy, and nutrition. These programs vary in format and depth, but they often include practical skills such as injury evaluation and taping, providing a solid foundation for students interested in sports medicine or other health professions.
The hands-on work, or the practical part, is a good way for any student that is interested in the medical progession to get involved. One would be able to be a part of actual injury prevention, seeing injuries happen and being a part of returning these injured athletes back to playing the sport that they love. The student will learn and become certified in CPR/AED and Basic First Aid, from the American Heart Association.
Please feel free to give me a call at the school if you need any further information about the Sports Medicine Program here at Neville High School.

Ankle sprains are common injuries that occur when the ligaments supporting the ankle joint are stretched or torn. The treatment depends on the severity of the sprain.

What is the most common ankle ligament injury? The most common and significant ligament tears include tears in the Anterior TaloFibular Ligament (ATFL). Also damage the CalcaneoFibular Ligament (CFL), or the Deltoid ligament complex. |
