Dear Amazing All Star,
Welcome back! I am so excited to start a new school year with you! I am looking forward to another year of watching my friends from last year grow, and getting to know my new friends! I believe in meeting children where they are with individualized instruction, and supporting social-emotional growth along with reading, writing, and math skills. I love getting to know my students for the unique and wonderful people that they are, and having fun as we grow throughout the year.
This is my third year at Stony Brook, and my second year teaching K-3 Resource Room. I have been a special education teacher for many years after graduating from The College of New Jersey in 2006, and later receiving my master’s degree from Kean University. I have taught preschool through fifth grade in all different settings. Of all the grades and types of classes I have taught, early elementary resource room is my favorite!
I hope that your summer was full of adventures, lazy days, and family memories. I spent the summer traveling and enjoying time with my family. We had fun going on trips, visiting the beach, swimming in the pool, going to the library, visiting friends and family, doing house projects, watching the world cup, and spending lots of time outside! I hope that in a few weeks you will share some of your favorite summer memories with me! This year my daughter is entering second grade and my son is starting kindergarten! They are excited and a little nervous, the beginning of the year can bring lots of feelings!
