5th Grade 

 

      My name is Olivia McDaniel Berzas, and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher. In my classroom, my goal is for my students to feel valued, comfortable, safe, and most of all successful.  Parents and guardians play a crucial role in the educational success of their children, so I ask that you please encourage them to do their very best.  I will be posting skills and test days, along with other important information, on my website for each week. Week of September 9, 2025:  

 

 

Reading/ELA: We will continue working on our first unit on the novel The Birchbark House. Some of the topics we will be studying include main idea and supporting details. We will also practice determining the meaning of unknown words, supporting our answers with text evidence, and identifying different types of sentences. An assessment on these skills will be given Friday, September 12th.

Social Studies: This week we will be studying the ancient Roman Empire, the republican government of Rome, the birth of Christianity.
