Welcome back 4th grade families!

I am excited to begin another fantastic year here at Silver Run!

Things are already off to an interesting beginning- the district has decided to expand student learning this year by departmentalizing the subject areas and teachers who will deliver the material.

This is exciting news for families! It means that your student will have TWO teachers throughout the school year. One teacher (That's me!) will be teaching ELA- the reading and writing portion of the curriculum. For an hour and 45 min each day, students will engage with material that is aligned to achieving their reading and writing goals.

Our team teacher is Mrs. Quenzel!

Mrs. Quenzel is an excellent teacher with a passion for Social Studies and student goal achievement. We are very lucky to have her as part of our learning community this year! She will be leading in teaching your student Math, Science, and Social Studies. Mrs. Quenzel and I have planned on aligning our classroom expectations and family communications to ensure that students and families are kept in constant knowledge of what is happening in our  classrooms! We are excited to deliver this year's curriculum as a team and to see our students growth as a result of more direct instruction for these subjects.

To be transparent, this is my first time working with a split schedule. I know that this may be the first time that many families have had to navigate the school year with two teachers. I want to assure you that every precaution and detail have been discussed to make transitions and communications as seamless as possible. However, not all conflicts are foreseeable. I do ask for a bit of patience and grace as we work out the kinks and get into a rythm for the remainder of the year.

Adding to the beginning of the year excitement is the installation of abrand new HVAC system in the Silver Run building. Since this was such a large construction project, the first few days of school will be half days to give teachers time for classroom set up. Please check your email and phone for important messages from the ditrict.

Thank you for your anticipated patience and support!

I cannot wait to get to know your student this year!
