Classroom Policies – Mr. Collier

This plan was developed to establish a safe and positive classroom and school environment.  The environment must allow teachers to teach and the students to learn.

Classroom Rules

  1. Come to class on time.  Find your desk and get to work.  If the tardy bell has rung, if the door is closed, or if you are running down the hallway as the bell is ringing, you are tardy!  Go get a tardy slip and return to class.
  2. Adjust your appearance. You will be asked to step outside and correct your uniform if it is worn incorrectly.
  1. Attend to personal needs before coming to class. Unless directed by the nurse or in the case of a dire emergency, you will not be given the pass to leave the room.  Take care of all needs before coming to class.
  2. Respect those around you, use polite speech and body language. Unkind teasing and impolite behavior is unacceptable.  Inappropriate language and disrespect will not be tolerated.
  3. Do not cheat. Students caught cheating will receive a zero and an immediate referral.  Any assignment where cheating was evident cannot be made up or redone.  Both the student who shares his work for an independent assignment AND the person who copies it will suffer the same consequences. I expect you to do your own work and to be sure no one can copy it.

Classroom Procedures

  1. 1.      Bring required materials every day.  For graded assignments, THERE ARE NO PENS ALLOWED IN THIS CLASSROOM!!!  Pencil only.  Also you MUST have your own calculator.
  2. 2.      Talk only when permitted. Be aware of the situation since quiet talking is allowed in some situations and speaking to the entire group without raising your hand may be allowed in others. I will remind you once and expect compliance.
  3. 3.      Begin your bell work as soon as you enter the classroom.  You will have 5 minutes to complete this activity.  The 5 minutes will start as soon as the tardy bell rings.  It is in your best interest to get to class as soon as possible.  Please do not wait for me to remind you to begin since I need attend to other duties for the first few minutes of the period.
  4. 4.      Remain in your assigned seat unless you have permission to get up . Throw scraps away at the end of the period on your way out.   If you need to sharpen your pencil simply raise the pencil in the air and await permission.
  5. 5.      No Food or Drink is allowed I may provide you with snacks for appropriate behavior but that is it.
  6. 6.      Keep a positive attitude; I know… it’s math… but stay positive…YOU CAN DO IT!
  7. 7.      Follow the teacher's directions immediately. It’s simple, you don’t give me any problems, and the only problems I give you will be of the mathematical variety.

Classroom Behavior Plan:

           The Discipline Breakdown:

a.  First, you will receive a warning.  If I correct you in ANY way this was your warning.
