My name is Lindsey Robinson and I am a board-certified music therapist for the Bayonne Board of Education. I provide group music therapy sessions within self-contained classrooms for students in the ASD and MD programs. Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based practice of using musical interventions and experiences to accomplish therapeutic goals within an individual or group setting (American Music Therapy Association, 2005). This modality can be used to support the social, cognitive, motor, and emotional development of students of all ages and abilities. Music therapy interventions such as instrument play, improvisation, guided relaxation, lyric analysis, and songwriting can foster opportunities for growth in goals regarding self-regulation, social awareness, coping skills, self-expression, communication, fine and gross motor skills, and interpersonal skills. Through the universal fondness and accessibility of music, students can engage in an experience that simultaneously provides both comfort and growth through song. I look forward to making music this year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lindsey Robinson, MAT, MT-BC
