Communication (Daily Folder / Red Folder / Newsletters / Remind)
*Daily Folder - Your child will have a folder for daily communication. It will be sent home each afternoon and please return it each morning with your child. Please send any money (money should be in a labeled bag/envelope with purpose and student’s name) and/or communication to me in the daily folder.
*Red Folder - Your child’s red folder will be sent home each Wednesday and will include graded papers. Please look over your child’s work (you may keep their papers at home), sign the back of the folder and return it to school on Thursday.
*Newsletters - Weekly Newsletters will be sent home each Monday and will include important dates, what we are working on in class and any homework assignments.
*Remind - Please sign up for our class Remind. I frequently send reminders and pics of what your child is working on in class :)
Motivators and Behavior
Student behavior will be monitored daily. Positive reinforcements (a trip to the treasure or candy box, Cougar Cash or Happy Mail) can be earned for good behavior. Your child’s behavior calendar will be in the front pocket of their yellow folder. Please check their calendar daily for any behavior marks. Please initial any days your child receives a mark.
Homework
Homework assignments will be listed on the Weekly Newsletter. From time to time, additional homework assignments will be sent home in your child’s yellow folder. Once a week, readers will be sent home with your child and will be in the back pocket of your child’s yellow folder. Please check the back of your child’s yellow folder daily for a reader. If they have a reader, read it with them that night, sign their reading log and return the reader the next day.
Class Parties and Birthdays
We will have class parties for Christmas, Easter and the End of the Year. We will have treat exchanges for Halloween and Valentine’s Day. I will send home sign up lists a few weeks in advance before each party. You are welcome to send treats for your child’s birthday as long as they are individually wrapped.
Field Trips
1st Grade usually plans 2 field trips per school year - 1 in the fall and 1 in the spring. Half of the your child’s supply fee must be paid for them to attend the fall trip. It must be fully paid for them to attend the spring field trip.
