Hello!
My name is Ms. Renshaw and I am so excited to be your child's First Grade teacher this year! I hope you had a fantastic and relaxing summer. I am excited to hear about your adventures. This is my fourth year teaching and my second year in First Grade. I am looking forward to working with all of your children.
This is going to be such an exciting new chapter and I cannot wait to learn from all of you. Learning will flourish in our classroom! There are many suprises and exciting things to learn this year. We will be learning about letter sounds to help us read and write, our community, force and motion, addition and subtraction, and many other exciting topics. Along with all the learning that flourishes in First Grade, we will also make many friends and memories together.
We have a special project we would like you to complete for the first full week of school. It is called MYSTERY PERSON; find three small objects/toys that tell something about you! Put them in a paper bag and give it to your teacher (some ideas: crayon if you like to color, a paint brush if you enjoy art, a book if you like to read etc.). You can write your name on the inside of the bag. Each day we will pick a mystery bag or two to SHARE! As a class, we will try to guess who the mystery bag belongs to. It will take some time to complete our bags, so do not put in an object you may need right away. We can't wait to see what you bring to begin making connections with your classmates.
*please send in your bag by Monday or Tuesday, September 9th or 10th.
During the first few days of school, we will create daily routines and establish our class rules to ensure that we all feel safe and welcomed. Please remember to bring in a snack everyday, headphones/earphones, and a photo that makes you happy to post on our class collage (i.e. a picture of your dog, family, or favorite place).
Each Day you will need:
*Name Tag: Name, Teachers Name, and Bus Number
*Sunscreen: please apply prior to the school day
*A backpack without wheels
*one healthy snack and reusable water bottle each day (in a sealed container and marked with name)
*A set of extra clothes (labeled in a plastic bag)
If you have any questions, I have included my email,
Sincerely,
Ms. Renshaw
