Welcome to the 2nd and 4th Grade Learning Lab! My name is Cindy Melissa Blood-Bernal—though I am better known to my students as Ms. Melissa. As the Lead Special Education Teacher here at BCES, I am a firm believer in the growth mindset. I know that every child possesses a unique way of learning and the potential to achieve great things, and I am honored to support them on their educational journey. I value open communication and look forward to partnering with you this year. 2nd Grade:

Math: Identifying and differentiating among various shapes; review of previously learned skills.

 

ELA: Writing an opinion paragraph on a topic chosen from the provided list or a school-appropriate student choice. We will continue to review sentence structure, parts of speech, and other writing skills.

 

4th Grade:

Math: Measurement; measurement conversion; geometric measurement of angles. We will review 4th-grade Math skills, including, but not limited to: properties of operations; multiplication; division; place value; equations; and area and perimeter

 

ELA: Inferences and evidence; review of a variety of 4th-grade ELA skills, including but not limited to: fluency; comprehension; sentence structure; parts of speech; theme and summary; and structured writing.
