Welcome to 1st Grade Science & Social Studies!
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I am Miss Bonnie Hemphill. I am thrilled to work with you and your child over the course of the school year. This will be my 1st year teaching science and social studies in first grade. I am a graduate of ULM with a major in elementary education and a minor in Spanish. I have been teaching middle school science for the past 3.5 years at MLK Jr. High and was ready to move back down to elementary, so that decision brought me here!
Science and social studies are subject areas that incorporate lesson plans with reading, discussions, and hands-on activities or experiments. I am really looking forward to the upcoming school year, building upon the skills students mastered last year, and helping students accomplish new challenges in the subject areas. I feel that a positive learning experience is built on a collaborative effort among parents, students, and the teacher, and I welcome your questions and concerns as the year progresses.
It is my ultimate goal for each of my first grade students to experience success and to foster a love of learning this year. If questions or concerns should arise, please feel free to email or call anytime.
