WELCOME BACK
Dear Parent/ Guardian,
Welcome to your child’s 6th grade Language Arts Literacy class! I am so very excited to begin a new school year here at Sayreville Middle School. My name is Antonia Errico and I will be working with your child this year in LAL class. This is my fifth year at the middle school and I wanted to share with you a little about myself. I am from the ‘Jersey Shore’ so you probably guessed it, I am a beach girl at heart. I graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Special Education K-12 and a Minor in American Sign Language.
This will be an exciting year for all as we explore developing/ analyzing characters, literary elements, writing literary essays using RACEE and other models, reading informational and nonfiction texts and conducting research-based essays, and writing personal narratives. In this class, we will use the multiple resources to engage and interest your child. We will read many interesting stories, along with corresponding workbooks, and research on the Internet, which will foster a greater appreciation for reading and writing. Throughout the year, we will explore more of the Common Core standards for 6th grade language arts, writing, and literature.
For this class, it is recommended that your child has a folder, notebook, and a pencil. I want to make sure your child is prepared and ready to learn every day, so please help me in emphasizing the importance of bringing these items to class each day. I will post frequently on OnCourse, so that you may keep track of your child’s work. All work will be completed on the documents distributed in class, unless otherwise specified.
I expect a fabulous year of learning and growing in skills and abilities for each student. I am greatly looking forward to getting to know you and your child, and to teach them more about Language Arts. I would like to keep open communication with you all of this year. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t ever hesitate to contact me. My email address is: [email protected]
Sincerely,
Ms. Antonia Errico
