Welcome to the Minnie Ruffin Elementary 2026-2027 School Year! I am excited to teach your 6th graders ELA this year!
Students will take 2 tests per week in ELA, consisting of Grammar and knowledge of the unit we are studying. Students will practice writing, reading comprehension and knowledge of Vocabulary.
Throughout the year we will be studying various books and texts. The first Unit is Esparanza Rising, the second is Bud, Not Buddy and the third is Revolution.
Homework and important papers will be sent home through your child's folder along with their tests weekly to sign and return.
If your student hasa Ouachita Parish Library card they can access the books at home through the 2 apps that the library uses (Cloud Library and Hoopla). I highly recommend getting a library card to access all the free services the library has to offer!
