Dear Wildcat Families,

WELCOME TO SPEECH & LANGUAGE!  My name is Erin Esposito and I will be your child’s Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) this school year.  I am excited to begin a new school year, and I hope that your family is excited, too.  During speech and language therapy, we use a variety of activities and strategies to encourage your child to communicate at their highest level, while still having fun!  Within our sessions, we work to enhance overall communication skills including listening, speaking, reading, writing, articulation, and fluency.

I am a firm believer that parents and guardians are the first and most important teachers in a child’s life.  With that in mind, as your child works on new skills at school, I will (occasionally) send home activities for your child to complete with you at home.  Practice at home is intended to be quick and easy to ensure your child’s participation, along with carry-over of skills.

PLEASE NOTE:  All therapies in the East Rutherford School District (Speech-Language and Occupational Therapy) provide services utilizing a 3:1 Model.  This means that students will receive direct services for 3 weeks and indirect for 1 week.  Indirect service weeks allow for consultations, make-up sessions, push-in sessions, and evaluations to occur.  This method has proven to be effective in research studies demonstrating an increase in carry-over of skills between the therapy room, classroom, and home.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year.  Email is generally the quickest way to contact me, or you can reach me through the school telephone (provided below).  I am looking forward to a wonderful school year with your family!

Respectfully,

Miss Erin Esposito, M.A., CCC-SLP
