Course Expectations/Rules

Class Rules: 

  1.  Follow all rules outlined in your Wossman and Monroe City Schools Handbooks.
  2. Do not loiter outside my classroom.  Come inside and get to work, immediately.
  3. Be respectful to all and everything in room 228 (human and inanimate)!
  4. Take care of personal needs, during the transition of classes.  Do not ask to leave!
  5. Permission to leave will be granted for medical reasons, emergencies, or upon gaining privileges from positive behavior coupons.

 

Instructional Methods:  lecture;  collaborative/cooperative group; specific, written directions; specific, verbal directions; discovery approach; structured drill and practice; demonstrations; individual work; special projects; reports; films; music, movies and youtube videos; games, and computer programs.

 

Student Responsibilities and Expectations: 

  1. Regular attendance.
  2. Taking notes lectures/class discussions
  3. Completing all assigned class work and homework (on time).
  4. Making up any work missed in a timely manner (according to guidelines in the student handbooks)
  5. Being ready to Learn and open to learning new concepts.

 

Class Policies: 

  1.  Attendance
    1.  Students are expected to attend all class meetings.
    2. A student is required to bring an excused or unexcused admit from the office, if he/she is absent.
    3. Students are not allowed to remain in another teacher’s classroom, during my scheduled class time.  You will be reported for skipping my class.
    4. Make-Up Work
    5.  Students must make arrangements with Mr. Maloney to complete make-up exams.
    6. Students with unexcused absences will not be allowed to make-up assignments.
    7. Follow the guidelines in the Wossman and Monroe City Schoools Handbooks.
    8. A grade of zero “0” will be recorded for all students, until assignments have been completed.
    9. Projects or Group projects will only be accepted after the deadline if arrangements have been made with Ms. Reed.

 

 

Evaluation and Grade Assignment:

  1.  Methods:  Traditional Assessment---Quizzes, Vocabulary tests, Chapter tests, DBQ tests Skills tests, Semester/Final Exams.
  2. Grading Scale: 

A=93-100             B =85-92               C=75-84                D=67-74               F=0-66

  1. Computation of Grade:

Your grade will be obtained by using total points. 

For example:  You received 9 tests=788 points homework and classwork points=360 points

********You will divide your total points (788+360=1148 points   1148/1360* (900 +360=1360)

1148/1360=84     Your grade will be 84/C.

 

Books:    Each class has access to a classroom set of books.  Students will be issued a textbook, if, and only if, they have cleared fines or made arrangements with the administrators. Additionally, text books will be issued if necessary or made available online.

 

Desks:  Do not write on them!  Do not remove them.

 

NOTE:  KEEP THIS SHEET IN YOUR BINDER AT AL L TIMES.  I WILL CHECK FOR THIS SHEET, DURING BINDER CHECKS.
