My classroom rules and expectations are as follows:

2025-2026: Classroom Rules and Course Expectations

Expectations

  1. Each weekly cycle will consist of readings followed by a video (or two) then a test over a combination of the materials. As such, each cycle should take approximately one to two weeks to complete. The goal is to have at least one test per week on average.

  2. I expect you to read the material before we meet (with the exception of the first story), to watch any video quietly and attentively, and to take your own tests without copying or cheating. The notes we take over the story(ies) and the video will be turned in upon completion of each test we take. If you turn in someone else’s notes or a copy thereof, you will receive a 0 FOR ALL THREE TESTS. If you do this a single time, you will likely fail the entire 9 weeks and possibly an entire semester.

  3. If I believe that you are not reading the material ahead of time, I will also incorporate quizzes into the mix. I do not want to do this, but I will.

Rules

  1. Pay attention to the cheating outcomes above.

  2. NO cellphones. If you have a phone out and I see it, I will not take it. I will make a call for someone else to come get it. If you are on a sports team or in other extra-curriculars, I will also make a call to your coach/sponsor.

  3. AVOID talking unless we are in a discussion. It’s annoying for me and everyone else, really. No one is interested in your conversations. By no one, I mean me.

  4. NO headphones of any sort. See rule 2.

  5. DO NOT touch my thermostat. If I see you adjusting my air conditioner, I will call down to have you removed.

  6. DO NOT go behind my desk. This is a MAJOR violation of privacy. It WILL NOT be tolerated.

  7. I will push hard to enforce the attendance rules as well as the makeup rules as stated in the official handbook.
