Curriculum

-We follow the Louisiana Department of Education Guidebook Units as outlined by the Department of Education guidelines. 

 

-6th grade Units

 -Light Waves

 -Sound Waves

-Contact Forces

-Forces at a Distance

 -From Molecules to Organisms

 -Earth’s Place in the Universe

 -Interdependent Relationships

 

 

-Students will be able to access materials through Oncourse Classroom. They will also receive handouts in the classroom.

 

Grades

-Any assignment turned in online in Oncourse Classroom will be reflected in the Oncourse gradebook. 

 

-Students will receive at least 9 grades during the 9 weeks. There will be at least one test per six week period.



Behavior Management

-Students will earn PBIS points on a daily basis which they can use to make purchases in the classroom store. They may receive points for activities such as: returning their folder, making smart decisions, being a friend, being leader of the week, volunteering, etc. 

-Behavior infractions result in the following:

#1 Verbal Warning

#2 Behavior Reflection

#3 Minor Referral (signature)

#4 Minor Referral (signature)

#5 Minor Referral (signature)

#6 Parish Referral (completed by administration)

-Students may receive a minor behavior notice for the following: electronic equipment out at school, being out of assigned areas, failure to follow rules, uncooperative behavior, teasing, play fighting, spitting, throwing objects, disruptive behavior, running in the building, chewing gum/eating without permission,  excessive talking, inappropriate language, inappropriate display of affection, vandalism, violation of technology policy, stealing or bullying.

*More severe offenses are sent directly to the office.

 

Expectations

 

-Students are responsible for recording due dates and turning in homework and classwork on time. 

-If students are absent, they will be able to turn in their assignments by having their chromebook at home or later when they return to school.

 

Communication

-You may contact me via email, handwritten message or Remind. 

 

-Please put your child’s name and homeroom on any correspondence, money, fees or etc. 

 

-Please contact me and the office if your child will be absent for more than three consecutive days.
