Coping Skills are things you can do to help you get through a difficult time, whether you are feeling sad, angry, or anxious. Here are some examples:
Take a few deep belly breaths (slowly count to 5 as you breathe in, aaand release).
Get enough sleep.
Listen to some "feel good" music.
Talk to someone you trust
Watch something funny on Youtube.
Exercise!!!
Remind yourself that this will pass.
Do something creative (journal, draw, paint, craft, make music, or dance in front of the mirror!)
Do something nice for someone.
Eat a snack you like.
Write down 10 things you are grateful for.
Go for a walk (alone or with a good friend).
Write your feelings and then rip it up.
Remind yourself that you are more than enough, flaws and all :)
Squeeze your pillow or scream into it if you are angry.
Jump up and down while letting your arms swing.
Be kind to yourself, the same way you would talk to a friend that needed advice.
Last but not least...ASK FOR HELP.
You can always speak to me or another trusted adult. You are not alone in this & there are people in your life who are there to support you and help guide you.
