We understand the growing concerns over the coronavirus (COVID-19) across our communities.  As your community support we want to support you as best we can through these difficult times.  Your health and social and emotional well being is important. We urge you to follow these CDC guidelines for best preventive practices:

  • Clean your hands often.

  • Avoid close contact with people that are sick.

  • Keep your child home if they are sick.

  • Cover coughs and sneezes

Additionally, if your child is asking questions or demonstrating some concerns about the current life events, here are some online resources to help you connect with your child in a meaningful way to help them understand and cope.

In speaking with your child/children it is important to practice the following:

  • Make yourself available.

  • Remain calm and reassuring.

  • Monitor television viewing and social media.

  • Avoid excessive blaming.

  • Be honest and accurate.

  • Maintain a normal routine to the extent possible.

  • Know the symptoms of COVID-19.

  • Review and model basic hygiene and healthy lifestyle practices for protection.

  • Discuss new rules or practices at school

  • Communicate with your school

For a more detailed explanation of these guidelines, we urge you to read the article in the link below.  Please note, the article is provided in multiple languages.  Once you open the link you will see the option on the right hand side of the page.  It is a most worthwhile read.
