Collaborative Consultative Services:
The West New York Collaborative Consultation Services (CCS) is a special education service delivery model that is deliberate, structured, and systematic. It is a process, not an event that uses all the vehicles of special education available in a flexible schedule which is responsive to the individual student's needs. This includes small group / individual direct instruction within or outside the general education classroom; monitoring of students within the general education classroom; co-teaching; in-class support; modifications / adaptation to general education curriculum and instruction; teacher consultation; technical assistance; and more. In other words, CCS is a special education service option in which special and general educators demonstrate on-going collaboration and decision-making regarding the instructional needs of students with disabilities through pooled resources and joint accountability. Most often, the general education teachers are responsible for content expertise and the special education teachers adapt that content for individual learning styles and abilities based on the student’s IEP.
