English Language Arts

For reading, grammar, writing, and spelling, we will be using a program called Reading Street. Reading Street helps with the following:

• Increases text complexity in reading
• Provides accessible rigor
• Balances fiction and informational texts
• Builds content-area knowledge
• Emphasizes close reading
• Focuses on informative/explanatory, argumentative/opinion, and narrative writing
• Implements performance assessments
• Integrates media and 21st century skills

 

 

Math

The math program we use is called Eureka Math. This math program helps you build multiple strategies and deep understanding of numbers in order to become great math problem solvers. Each module, or chapter, includes the following:

• Place value and Decimal Fractions
• Multi-Digit Whole Number and Decimal Fraction Operations
• Addition and Subtraction of Fractions
• Multiplication and Division of Fractions and Decimal Fractions
•  Addition and Multiplication with Volume and Area
• Problem Solving with the Coordinate Plane

 

Science

For science, we will be using MysteryScience. These units include:

• Web of Life- Ecosystems and the Food Web
• Watery Planet- Water Cycle and Earth's Systems
• Spaceship Earth- Sun, Moon, Stars, and Planets
• Chemical Magic- Chemical Reactions and Properties of Matter

 

Social Studies

In social studies, we will be learning about each of the following:

• 13 colonies 
• French and Indian War/ Events leading to the Revolutionary War
• Revolutionary War
• Constitution and US Government
