Literacy
You can incorporate the following developmentally appropriate literacy activities into your child's everyday play and activities:
- Read to your child.
- Talk about the pictures.
- Find letters/numbers on the pages.
- Have your child "read" using the pictures.
- Make predictions about what could happen next.
- After reading ask questions, such as:
- What did you like about the book?
- What was this book all about?
- Who were the characters in the book?
- What was your favorite part?
- Draw pictures and try to label pictures
- Practice writing name
- Name letters that you see on food boxes or toys

Mathematics
In addition, you can incorporate the following developmentally appropriate math activities into your child's everyday play and activities:
- Practice Rote Counting
- Count toys while cleaning up
- Write and identify numbers from 0-10
- Find numbers around your house
- Play memory or board games
- Match number cards with same amount of toys
- Compare sizes of toys
- Sort toys by size, color, shape, etc.
- Practice using positional words (below, behind, beside, etc.)
- Sort Laundry
Physical
You can incorporate the following developmentally appropriate physical activities into your child's everyday play and activities:
- Play NON-ELECTRONIC tabletop/board games.
- Go to a park.
- Take a walk.
- Play games like, “Simon Says,” or other games that practice directed movement.
- Play with all size toys
- Pick up small items
- Write and color
- Cut with child size scissors
- Play with play dough
- Dance, Move, Balance, Skip, Run, Hop, Gallop, Crawl

Social- Emotional

- Practice taking deep breaths
- Practice self-help skills - brushing teeth, getting dressed, cleaning up
- Reinforce that is OK to make mistakes (that is the only way we learn!)
- Spend time together talking and listening for 2 minutes - talk about something that interests your child
- Practice making “moody” faces and name the mood.
- Practice taking turns.
- Practice using common mannerly phrases (please; thank you; no, thank you; hello; goodbye; you’re welcome; excuse me) Talk about when it is appropriate to use these phrases and why. (Using manners shows others that we care about and respect them and ourselves).
Science
In addition, you can incorporate the following developmentally appropriate Science activities into your child's everyday play and activities:
- Talk about weather.
- Talk a walk and talk about budding plants, changes in the environment, animals you see and hear.
- Construct something.
- Test a prediction.
- Sink and float experiments
