The best language development activites for your child surrond us everyday.  Involve your children in everyday chores such as laundry and cleaning.  Talk and sing together while you are doing these.  Cooking together is an excellent time to learn new vocabulary and sequencing skills and to practice following directions.  Read with your child daily.  Talk about the pictures and what happens in the book.  Talk about new words you find as you read.  Ask them questions about the pictures or what you have read. At the end of the story have them tell you key details from the story or retell the story to you from start to finish.  Play board games with your children.  This helps them learn turn taking and social interaction skills. Be patient with them and model the skills you want to see them learn. Enjoy every minute with them while they are small because they will not be small for long, they grow up way to fast.
