Welcome to Mrs. Gitsas' Class.
I am really looking forward to a wonderful year! This year, your child will be learning a variety of math skills, both in review and as a building block for the future. We have adopted the Common Core Standards in 4th grade math, as well as several new tools to help your child succeed. One of the tools used is called Ready Math/iReady. This curriculum tool uses both digital and traditional applications. We also have many activities planned for science and social studies. Additionally, one of the major concepts that the team addresses is responsibility. There is a big transition in 4th grade and your child will be expected to 'step it up' and take responsibility for their academics, behavior, and attitude. The entire 4th grade team works very closely together and we look forward to working with your student this year.
