Grading Policy:
I believe in using a wide range of assessments to meet the various learning styles of each student. This includes assigning a combination of formal and creative assessments, written and oral assessments, and individual and/or group projects. Assessments may be announced or unannounced. Below is a breakdown of the grading scale used in class:
ELA

This includes reading, spelling, and vocabulary quizzes, responses to reading, comprehension checks, skill worksheets, and online assignments such as ExactPath and ReadWorks. |

This grade includes fully completing work on time and to the best of your ability. It also includes attending class and coming to class with all necessary materials to be successful. Class and group participation during discussions may also be assessed. |

Late Work: Five points will be deducted for each day (not including weekends) that an assignment is late. Students will have 3 days from the due date to turn in a late assignment. If the work is not completed within that 3-day period, it will no longer be accepted and your grade will remain as a zero.
*** Please note that some assignments may not be eligible to be turned in late. If we use an assignment for class the next day, or go over answers together, you will not be able to complete it afterwards.
Absences: If you are absent, you have an equal number of days to turn in your make-up work. For example, if you’re absent one day, you have one day to turn the work in. Two days absent means you have two days to complete the work.
