EHYES Homework Philosophy

 

At Emma Havens Young Elementary School, we are proud to promote independent reading so that each student can learn to love literacy while increasing fluency and comprehension.  To achieve our goal, we are asking for your support in encouraging your child to engage in independent reading every night.  We feel strongly that this  initiative will support our students in becoming lifelong readers. There will be additional homework assignments to support individual student needs throughout the year, however I am regularly recommending uninterrupted reading 10-15 minutes per night.

 

*It would be wonderful if addition & subtraction facts are practiced on a daily basis as well.*
