A little about me: My name is Alexandra Mossing and I am a native New Orleanian. I graduated from the University of Mississippi (Hotty Toddy!) with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in International Studies and Spanish with a minor in Economics. I worked in a job training program for disadvantaged youth and as a lobbyist for a local trade association before returning to Tulane University to complete my teaching certification. I am certified in secondary (6-12 grades) social studies. This is my ninth year teaching social studies in middle school. I am thrilled to be a part of the Hynes Charter School community, and I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you this year.
A little about social studies: Social Studies is, in my opinion, one of the most important content areas. It is essential for our students to understand the history of our world and communities if they are to become "leaders for a changing world." The skills students learn in middle school social studies will allow them to access complex information from varied sources, interpret the information while accounting for potential bias, and create an informed perspective on a wide array of topics. This critical thinking and problem solving ability is an invaluabe skill in today's world, and I am confident that we truly will prepare the leaders of tomorrow by completing this hard work today.
Hynes... Quality education, shaping leaders for a changing world.
