May 18-23

(Week 4 in the new packets)

 

Math:

We will have our last zoom lessons on Tuesday/Thursday at 1

1. Work through daily math each day for week 34.

2.Complete week 4 math review pages.

3. Work on "Operation Save Summer Vacation" if students have access to a device. This will be explained in Remind but is an escape room students can complete digitally. (A fun, end of the year activity) Students can take as long as they need (it is not timed) but should keep track of answers after each "puzzle" since it will not save their answers unless they complete it in one sitting. I will explain this with them on our zoom call on Tuesday and will be able to answer questions on Tuesday and Thursday!

4. I also have a digital memory book that I will send out through remind that students can complete and save on a device to have as a memory! Please let me know if you have any questions!

 

Science:

1. Complete week 4 in the science packet.

2. Continue to work on Discovery Education assignments. Use DE as a resource and students can search and exlpore!

 

Social Studies:

1. Students can comlpete the remainder of their packet on economics.

May 11-15

(Week 3 in the new packets)

 

Math:

We will have our zoom lessons on Tuesday/Thursday at 1

1. Work through daily math each day for week 33.

2. Complete any of the previously assigned work if it has not yet been completed.

3. In your new packets, complete the week 3 math review pages. 

4. Complete alll steps of measureland project and be prepared to show during our zoom lessons. 

 

Science:

1. Complete week 3 of the new packet.

2. Continue to work through assignements posted in Discovery Education. 

 

Social Studies:

1.Watch the BrainPop Jr. Video, "Goods and Services" and "Needs and Wants." Take both the Easy and Hard quiz (in your packet or online) for each video.

2. Complete the page "Resources or Goods?"

 

May 4- May 8 

(Week 2 in the new packets)

 

Math:

We will have our zoom lessons on Tuesday/Thursday at 1

1. Work through daily math each day for week 32.

2. Complete any of the previously assigned work if it has not yet been completed. 

3. In your new packets, complete lesson 2 of the Math and Measurement assignment. 

4. In your new packets, complete the week 2 math review pages.

5. Continue to work on measureland. We will show our first five steps and look at the next steps during our zoom lesson on Tuesday. 

6. PLEASE complete the Math review test on Edulastic. (from last week) we will review this on Thursday.

 

Science: 

1. Work through Week two of the new packet.

2. Make sure week 1 and week 2 are completed by the end of this week.

3. Continue to work through assignments posted on Discovery Education.

 

Social Studies:

1. Watch BrainPop JR. "Ellis Island"

2. In your packet, read the article "Migrants", "Motivation for Migration" and the chart behind it and answer the short answer questions on the "Migrants" page.

3. Read the article, "The Economics of Immigration", "The Great Migration", and complete the 2 short answer questions on the back of "The Great Migration" 

April 27-May 1

We will have our zoom lessons on Tuesday/Thursday at 1.

1. Work through daily math each day for week 31. 

2. Complete any of the previous GoMath pages that have been assigned. 

3. In your new packets, complete lesson 1 of the Math and Measurement assignment. (Also uploaded under the Math and Measurement tab)

4. In your new packets, complete the first two pages of the math review labeled week 1. 

5. I will introduce Measureland during our zoom lesssons. 

6. Continue to work on the LEAP practice tests on Edulastic.com. I have assigned a review test on Edulastic to work on this week.

Math:

6. Math Fun! Using a ruler at home or tape measure, (if you dont have one, there should be one in your planner) find at least 10 things in your room, house or yard to measure!  Right down the item and what it measures using centimeters or inches. 
Students may also complete Quizizz. Go to joinmyquiz.com and enter the following codes. These are all review of items we covered in class. They will be available for the upcoming weeks. Students do not have to complete all of them this week. Have them pick one or two they want to do now. Have them enter their first name and last initial.

1. Complete another page (front and back) of the science packet. You should have four pages completed at the end of this week. 
2. Make sure students are logging in (if they are able to) and reading through/watching the videos/answering the interactives on DiscoveryEducation.com
3. Students have been assigned an edulastic test on Animal Adaptations. When students login to their edulastic accounts (if they forgot their logins, please ask me and I can send them) they will see the animal adaptions test as well as all the LEAP practice tests. They can complete the LEAP practice tests at their own pace. Students can use the information in discover education to help them.

1. Complete the "So You Want to be an Inventor?" page.
2. Complete the next page for question 29. Study the pictures and identify whether each invention improved either transportation, communication, or the way goods are made. Then pick one invention and explain how the invention changed the way people live. 
3. The next page starts Document Based Questions. Please look at Documents 1 and 2 and asnwer the questions. The rest of the documents will be assigned next week.

April 6-April 9 (Good Friday and Easter Sunday!)

 

Math:

1. Work through daily math each day for week 29. 

2. Go Math lesson 11.1 Angles and Fractional Parts of a Circle 

3. Zoom lesson will be Tuesday afternoon. I will review 11.1 with students and introduce 11.2 with them. Students will work on 11.2 Degrees. 

4. Zoom meeting on Thursday will be on 11.4 Joining and seperating angles. 

 

ENJOY FRIDAY OFF AND THE WEEKEND!

 

Science:

1. Log into Discovery Education and on the home page you will see current assignments. 

Read through/watch videos/ complete interactives on 5.3 "Light and Sight" Engage Tab and Explore Tab.

2. Log into brainpop.com and watch the videos on Light, Color, Electromagnetic Spectrum, and Eyes. Students may go ahead and take the quiz if they think they will pass it! They can watch the video twice if needed. 

3. Continue working in the science packet. Pick a front and back page to complete this week. 

 

Social Studies:

1. Play catch up. Make sure all previous assignements have been completed. 

2. Read/Review the Fact Cards after the last article. It will discuss inventions made during the industrial revolution and how people benefited from them. 

3. Have students write a social studies (1 paragraph) response to the following prompt: "How did inventions help make peoples lives easier during the industral revolution?" Pick two inventions to use as your evidence. Students can research these inventions with parental guidance. Parents, send me a picture or email of their paragraphs. I can't wait to read them! 

 

 

March 30-April 3

 

Math: 

1. Work through daily math each day for week 28.

2. Go Math lesson 10.4 Classify Quadrilaterals pages 567-571 even numbers 

3. Go Math lesson 10.5 Lines of Symmetry pages 575-580 even numbers.

4. Look for lines of symmetry around your house and outside. Make a list or draw what you see. 

5. Art Time! Using the two lessons on quadrilaterals and lines of symmetry, draw a picture that includes both. We will share these when we return. 

*Students may also begin working through the Ready Math packet as a review for concepts taught through out the year. 

 

Science:

1. Log into DiscoveryEducation.com and on the homepage you will see current assignements. Read through/watch the videos/complete the interactives for 5.2 "Senses at Work"

2. Continue working on the science packet. Complete Week 7 Day 5 and Day 1 with the goldfish and sight. Also work on Week 8 Day 2 with the the eye and racoon. 

3.3. Field Trip Friday! Login to Discoveryeducation.com and click on Virtual Field Trips. You can choose any virtual field trip and take as many trips as you would like. Be ready to tell the class all about your trips when we return! 

 

Social Studies: 

1. Finish reading any articles and answering questions from last week if needed.

2. Find the Readworks titled "The Industrial Revolution - Making Cloth: The Start of the Industrial Revolution." Read the article and answer questions 1-9.

3. Read the next page, "Industrial Revolution: changing the World" and answer the 4 questions at the bottom of the page. 

**In Social Studies, we were learning about Westward Expansion. We had just started an Oregon Trail Simulation game in class. Students can play the computer game Oregon Trail by visiting https://classicreload.com/oregon-trail.html

 

 

 

March 23-March 27:

 

Math:

1. Work through daily math each day for week 27.

4. Go Math Lesson 10.3 on Parallel and Perpendicular lines pages 561-565 even numbers 

5. Make a list of lines, rays, angles, triangles, parallel, and perpendicular lines in your room, home, and yard! 

 Students may also begin working through the Ready Math packet as a review for concepts taught through out the year. 

 

Science:

 1. Login to DiscoveryEducation.com and on the homepage you will see any current assignments. Read through/watch the videos/ and complete the interactives for lesson 5.1 Adaptation and Survival. -Surviving in the Desert - What are Adaptations.

2. Begin working on the science packet. Complete 1 page, front and back.
