       The purpose of this course is to develop in young people an appreciation of and a working skill in the performing arts: Music, Theatre,and Dance. This will be done through listening, activities, analysis and performance.

 

    My grading policy is simple: Pay attention, participate in classroom activities, and do your best. All students from grades 2 through 6 must have a music folder that will be graded on a rubric system from 5 to 1, 5 being excellent and 1 being poor.

 

    Every year we sing for the community in December, which includes Adult Day Care centers, hospitals, nursing homes and City Hall. We have our Christmas concert right before Winter break. In the spring we have a concert either at the end of May or in June. The Chorus and Drama groups go every year to the Paper Mill Playhouse to see a show. Last year it was "Grease."

 

 

       

 

     P.S. #1 Chorus rehearsals are as follows:

 

                          Monday  -  2:50 - 3:40 pm - 4th, 5th and 6th Grades

                                  Tuesday - 7:30 - 8:10 am - 3rd Grade

                                              2:50 - 3:40 pm - 4th, 5th & 6th Grade
                          Wednesday - 7:30 - 8:10 am - 3rd Grade

                                              2:50 - 3:40 pm - 4th, 5th and 6th Grades
                          Thursday - 7:30 - 8:10 am - 3rd Grade
                                             2:50 - 3:40 pm - 4th Grade
                           Friday - 7:30 - 8:10 am - 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Grades

 

     No rehearsals Monday mornings and Friday afternoons.
