Math "Parent Hacks"

  • If your child asks for help, before trying to figure out the problem yourself, ask your child "what do you remember from class?" This will encourage recall of the new material.
  • Are you looking at the homework page? Flip back one page. There, you will find the problems we worked on during class. Get out a new piece of paper and rewrite one of the problems we completed in class. Have your child work out the same problems (you have the workbook to use to reference the work!). This will help your child remember what was taught and help build fluency with the procedures.
