Classroom Netiquette

Netiquette (net + etiquette) is a code of conduct for virtual classrooms. Here is a quick list of do’s and don’ts to make sure everyone has a safe online experience.

    DO:

  • Use academic language.

  • Treat others the way you want to be treated.

  • Check to see if a question has been asked before

    posting it again.

  • Cite reliable sources.

  • Proofread your posts.

  •

    DO NOT:

  • Get off topic.

  • Type in ALL CAPS. (It’s considered yelling!)

  • Post things you are not comfortable with everyone

seeing, including your teachers and parents!

  • Make sarcastic jokes. Tone is hard to read online.

  • Mock or otherwise badmouth anyone.

  • If you wouldn’t do it in person, don’t do it online!
