Dear Fifth Grader,

I am so excited to see your smiling face back in the classroom!  This will be a year filled with many fun and challenging projects, lessons, and activities.

One of our goals this year is to build a caring environment where we all feel valued and safe.  It will be our mission to be kind and considerate to our classmates as well as our younger students. Remember: you are the role models for Bear Tavern.  What a wonderful responsibility!

We will have time each day for a snack.  You may bring in a small healthy snack and a water bottle.

This year we will be busy experimenting, investigating, creating, and expressing ourselves.  I will be teaching Math, Science, and Social Studies.  You will travel to another teacher for Language Arts.  I will have all of the supplies you will need in school.  Please remember to bring a set of earbuds or headphones for you to use.  You may also want to bring a lightweight drawstring bag to transport your things between classrooms.

Please begin thinking about your goals, hopes, and dreams for fifth grade.  My goal is for you to leave fifth grade feeling proud of what makes you special, to celebrate and support one another, and to remain inquisitive, lifelong learners.  Life is about the little choices you make each day, and if you come to fifth grade ready to make good choices, they will all add up to a successful year!

Enjoy the rest of your summer.  We have a great school year ahead of us, and I am so excited and proud to share it with you!

All my best,

Prof. Kindred
