Dear Fifth Grader,
I am so excited to see your smiling faces back in the classroom! Can you believe you are going to be a fifth grader this year? Fifth grade will be filled with many fun and challenging projects, lessons, and activities! I cannot wait to be your guide on this most important year!
One of our goals this year is to build a caring environment where we all feel valued and safe. It will be our mission to be kind and considerate to our classmates as well as our younger students. Remember, you are the role models for Bear Tavern! What a wonderful responsibility!
We have an early lunch and we will have time in the afternoon for a snack. You may bring in a small healthy snack and a water bottle.
This year, we will be busy creating, writing, researching, and expressing ourselves. I will be your homeroom teacher, and our fifth grade team consists of Mrs. Sutton and Mrs. Virtucio teaching language arts, and Ms. Gomez and I for math and science/social studies. I will have all of the supplies you will need in school. The only thing you need to bring from home is a set of earbuds or headphones for you to use.
Please begin thinking about your goals and hopes and dreams for 5th grade. My goal is for you to celebrate and support one another, to leave fifth grade feeling proud of what makes you special, and to remain inquisitive, lifelong learners. Life is all about making good choices, and if you come to 5th grade ready to focus on succeeding, the sky’s the limit!
Enjoy the last week of your summer. We have a great school year ahead of us. Remember to bring your enthusiasm, hard work ethic and positive attitude!
Sincerely,
Prof. Kindred
