Philosophy of Education
As a teacher, I strive to import my students with the tools, support, and love that they need in order to thrive not only for one lesson, one month, or one school year, but for their entire lives. I understand that my job goes far beyond the textbook, and that I am responsible for having an influence on the way that these little minds view education. One of my focuses in the classroom is developing a relationship with my students that conveys my excitement and enthusiasm for learning. If I am able to reach even one student so that their enthusiasm for learning grows even by the slightest, I have achieved this goal. Especially in districts where poverty is high, students may not be getting the support of education that they need from home. It is my duty to "turn on the light" for these students so that they can see what an outlet education can be for them. Whether it's escaping their home life by getting lost in a great book or being the first one in their family to go to college. I recognize that I could be that difference in their lives and I vow to do everything in my power tobe that influence that they need.
Teachers, I believe, are responsible for teaching engaging lessons aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and possibly more importantly, lessons that will allow them to become better individuals. In my classroom, I expect students to always strive for their personal best. When students feel that they are in a safe and supportive learning environment, they are able to perform their very best and push themselves to thrive in ways that they may have never thought possible.
