Dear Students and Parents:

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am pleased to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and welcome your student to Carroll Junior High School.  My name is Kay Benjamin, and I will be your child's Mathematics inclusion teacher. This will be my seventh year teaching at CJHS. I earned my bachelor's degree at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; and in 2018, I received my master’s degree in Secondary Education at Grand Canyon University.

I am really looking forward to building upon the skills students mastered last year and helping students accomplish new challenges in the math subject area this upcoming school year.  I feel that a positive learning experience is built on a collaborative effort among parents, students, and teachers. I also welcome your questions and concerns as the year progresses.

We have many expectations for our eighth-grade students at CJH. One of the most important expectations here is accountability. Your student is responsible for completing and turning in each assignment. It is essential that you follow up at home with assignments, projects, correspondences, and reinforcing positive behavior. My weekly lesson plans and homework will be posted on my Oncourse website for you to view on Parent Command.

Please login to Student Progress Center (formerly Parent Command) to view your student’s grades throughout the year. The steps are as listed:

  1. Go to www.mcschools.net

  2. Go to the tab labeled “I AM” and select “Parent” from the options.

  3. Scroll down to Important Parent Links and click on Student Progress Center.

  4. If you have already used this for your child, login.

  5. If you have not, click Register New User.

  6. The PSN number is the last 5 digits of the student’s social security number.

  7. Click continue.

*If you have a problem, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the guidance department at school.

It is my ultimate goal for each of my students to experience success and foster a love for mathematics. I am thrilled to work with you and your child over the course of the school year. If questions or concerns should arise, please feel free to email or call anytime.  I look forward to seeing you at Parent Conference Night (the date and time will be announced in the near future)!
