Dear Fifth-Grade Families,

We’ve been busy learning and checking our progress this quarter. Students have completed several assessments, including the District Benchmark, a diagnostic assessment, and CFA #1. These assessments help us identify students’ strengths and plan instruction and support for what comes next.

First nine weeks report cards have been issued. Please take a moment to review your child’s progress and celebrate their hard work. We are nearing the completion of Module 1. At the end of October, we’ll begin Module 2: Wordplay, where students will explore language and the ways authors play with words.

Supplies for Module 2

Please send your child to class with:

• Pencils
• A new composition notebook for Module 2: Wordplay

Composition notebooks are used as journals for students’ daily notes and written class assignments. Students keep their notebooks in the classroom so they are readily available when needed. The completed Module 1 composition notebooks will be sent home graded.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and dedication. Your partnership plays an important role in helping your child reach their full potential.
