Welcome!  I am excited to welcome our students back to school for another wonderful year!

 

In Art, we will work on all projects in class.  We will attempt to incorporate various media as we create projects that align with district objectives and state-wide standards.  We may also participate in school-wide, district-wide, and outside programs and exhibits when possible.

My name is Karen Mannino and I teach Art to all students at OECS.  I have been teaching for 19 years, 17 in Hillside.  My goal as a teacher is to help all students reach their artistic potential, and to develop other academic and SEL skills along the way.  You are welcome to contact me via the email adress listed above with any questions and/or concerns.  

 

 

ARTSONIA

We will be using Artsonia to virtually showcase our artwork! 

Artsonia is an online student art museum that showcases over 100 million pieces of art!

In order for your child's art to be visible on Artsonia, you must approve your child's account.

Please check the email address on file for instructions from Artsonia. 

If you did not get the email, or have any questions about Artsonia, please email me.  When emailing, I kindly ask that you include your child's name and homeroom teacher.  Thank you! 

Participation is optional.  Artsonia will not show artwork without parental permission. 

 

  

Homework Policy

Students will not have homework but are welcome to to take home and make up any missing assignments.  These may be made up until the end of the marking period.  "60" grades will be given for any incomplete or missing assignment.  Students will be graded on effort, never ability.  Projects will be weighted as tests.

Class Announcements
Welcome Back!  I'm excited to be your Art Teacher this year!
Check with your parent/guardian if you want to participate in Artsonia.  The should have received an email from Artsonia with instructions on how to approve your account.  Please email me with any questions and/or concerns. 

Grading Policy
Students in Grades 2 & 3 will receive S (60 and above) & N (below 60)
Students in Grades 4-6 will receieve O (85 and above), S (60 - 84) and N (below 60)
