 Random Acts of Kindness week

As you go through this week think about small acts of kindness you can do, here is some "food for thought" as we kick off the week:

"Several years ago a Buddhist monk spoke to a Senior class and quite interestingly as he entered the room, he didn't say a word (that caught everyone's attention). He just walked to the board and wrote this: "Everyone wants to save the world, but no one wants to help mom do the dishes." They all laughed. But then he went on to say this to the students:
"Statistically, it's highly unlikely that any of you will ever have the opportunity to run into a burning orphanage and rescue an infant, but in the smallest gesture of kindness, a warm smile, holding the door for the person behind you, shoveling the driveway of the elderly person next door you have committed an act of immeasurable kindness because to each of us, our life is our universe."
This is our hope for our students here that by your smallest acts of kindness, you will save an other's world.

What are spirit points? And how do you earn them?

Spirit Points are earned by student and staff participation in our Spirit Days. Peer leaders will come around to your homerooms on spirit days to tally up the number of participants in each house. Winners will be announced after each spirit day and 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place houses will receive SPIRIT POINTS.

The Long Valley Middle School Counseling Program promotes a positive school climate and supports student success through a developmental child-centered approach.

Our mission as school counselors is to provide a comprehensive guidance program that will assist all students in acquiring the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to be successful students, responsible and productive citizens, and become lifelong learners.  The program provides an atmosphere in which the dignity, culture, and social/emotional needs of every student are valued and one in which mutual respect and individuality are practiced.
