Happy New School Year!!!!!
Hello parents and guardians to Room 22 webpage. My name is Michelle O’Connell and I will have the privilege of teaching your child this year.
A bit about me, I graduated from Georgian Court University in 2012, and have been in the classroom since. This is my 10th year as a full time teacher and 7th here at Garfield Park Academy, and I have many ideas to make this year educational and fun for all here in Room 22. My love of teaching was introduced to me by my mother where she encouraged me to follow my dream and taught me that any dream is attainable as long as you work for it.
We have a great year ahead of us! We will start by reviewing some information learned last year, and then the new lessons begin. Middle school is a fun time where we learn to help each other learn to the best of our abilities. I believe reading and writing skills need to be reinforced here in school and at home. So, please allow your child to read to their siblings, to you and of course to themselves.
Parental involvement is extremely important for the success of our students. Together, we have an amazing job to educate and nurture these children to be the best they can. I look forward to get to know each and every one of my student’s parents and working with you throughout the year.
