Class Rules and Policies

 

The following are the rules and consquencies for my class.  These apply to ALL students.

Rules:

 

  1. Be Respectful.
    1. Demonstrate pride in self through words, actions, and appearance
    2. Treat all teachers and classmates kindly and deferentially
    3. Treat your surroundings, others’ belongings, and the school with consideration
    4. Do not interrupt teacher or classmates
    5. Remain in your seat during active teaching
  2. Be Prepared.
    1. Bring all materials to every class – this includes pens/pencils, paper, and assignments.
  3. Be Prompt. 
    1. Be in your seat BEFORE the bell rings
  4. Be Attentive.
    1. Turn off and put away cell phones BEFORE entering the room.
    2. Throw away ALL food and drinks BEFORE entering the room.
  5. Be Honest.
    1. Do your own work – do not cheat or plagiarize.

 

Consequences:

 

  1. First Warning:  The first warning for most infractions will be a verbal warning.  The student will be asked to modify his/her behavior based on school/classroom rules.
  2. Second Warning:  The second warning for continuing problems will result in a parent conference.
  3. Third Warning:  The third warning for continued disruption will be a referral to the administration with a recommendation for suspension.

 

Special Situations:

 

Cell Phones: If a cell phone is visible, the phone rings, or a student is caught on the phone during class, the phone will be taken and given to the office where it will be returned at specific times to the parent or guardian.

 

Plagiarism/Cheating:  The student will receive a zero on the assignment and a conference will be required with the parent or guardian.  Additionally, I will seek disciplinary action with Dr. Dawson. No student caught plagiarizing will be allowed to make up the work.

 

Volatile Behavior: Any threatening or volatile behavior in the classroom will result in an immediate referral to the office.
