Attendance/Tardiness/Make-Up Work
Being present at school is a huge part of a successful student. Please have your child at school every day on time. Attendance is taken as soon as we enter the classroom, and there is a delay in class if your child is late. If your child knows ahead of time that they will be absent, please make sure they get their assignments and complete them before they return to school. If your child is unexpectedly absent, please call the school, ask that your child’s assignments are put together, pick them up before the end of the school day, and have your child complete them before they return to school. All missed assignments and tests are expected to be completed as soon as your child returns to school. Students who are present at school when a test or assignment is assigned will be expected to take the test or complete the assignment the day they return from an absence. It is the responsibility of the student to make up any missed assignments or tests upon returning to school.
Homework/Projects
Homework is a necessity. It is given to help students practice the skills being taught in the classroom. I will not bombard your child with homework, however, I expect your child to study every day. Even on days that a written assignment is not given, your child should be reading an AR book, practicing multiplication and division cards, reviewing classwork, and studying for upcoming tests.
Throughout the school year, your child will be required to complete projects, papers, and/or activities based on lessons we are studying. I sometimes ask students to bring materials from home to complete these assignments. It is essential that these materials are brought to school as soon as possible. Extra time will not be given because they do not have the appropriate materials in class.
Materials
It is very important for students to keep up with their school materials and bring them to school every day. It is the responsibility of the parent to replace lost or broken materials.
