Welcome to Mrs. Coesfeld's and Ms. Rogers Preschool Class

Hello Preschool Families,
I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the warmer weather. Students have certainly been soaking up the sun during their Outdoor Gross Motor Times. They have been more independent with using the swings completely on their own. Very little, if any assistance with getting started while swinging has been needed. Many students have been observed initiating conversations like, "Can I play with you?" and "When you are done, can I have a turn?" These are all wonderful things to see and hear as they prepare to move on to Kindergarten.
In the classroom this week, students have enjoyed visiting a Kindergarten Class and meeting a Kindergarten Teacher, Ms. Rojas. We heard about what a typical Kindergarten Day would be like and were able to tour the classroom as well. During our Large Group Discussion we compared and contrasted all of the aspects of our Preschool class with what we saw and heard about in Ms. Rojas's Kindergarten class. Students helped to create a class chart listing their comparisons. We focused on key vocabulary words like, same, different, prediction and anticipate. Students listened to the books, Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for KindergartenFroggy Goes to School, Minerva Louise At School, and A Hot Day
During Small Groups, students reinforced letter recognition through locating and writing words and letters they could find around our room. Students also worked on a Spring 3-D art craft that is decorating our classroom.
I hope you and your family have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
Educationally Yours,
Tina Coesfeld
