Course Description

 

As we enter another exciting year of Science we will look closer at the preliminary stages of each branch of science. Students should expect to find the curriculum rigorous and engaging as the course will include collaborative work, project-based learning and interactions with scientists in our community.

Harnessing Human Energy

Force and Motion

Magnetic Fields

Light Waves

Earth, Moon, & Sun

Natural Selection

Evolutionary History



Classroom Expectations: 

 

District policies are followed as outlined in the school-wide Student Code of Conduct. Students are expected to be on time and be prepared. Disrespect will not be tolerated. Cheating will result in a 0. Gaming/cell phones are not permitted in class. Students are expected to have cameras on for the duration of class during virtual learning.

The progression of consequences if rules aren’t followed: 

  1. Verbal warning

  2.  Parent/Teacher Conference 

  3. Office Referral 

**In some cases some or all of these steps may be skipped depending on the level of the offense. 

 

Homework: 

 

Homework is an important part of learning and mastering science concepts. Homework and classwork makes up 15% of class grade. Students who fail to complete homework may perform poorly on tests or quizzes, which leads to a failing grade.     

 

Late Assignments: 

 

Students are expected to complete assignments on time. In the event of an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to check google classroom for missed work and notes. If there are extenuating circumstances that caused the assignment to be late, students will be allowed to make up the work with point deductions for each day late. Always, check the classroom website for posts and updates. 

 

Attendance: 

 

In the classroom, attendance is very important! When students show up to learn, they are more likely to be able to stay on-track, stay engaged and meet benchmark goals. class participation, and homework is 10% of the final grade in this class. 

 

Tutoring Schedule:

If you are struggling in science, support is provided after school per appointment.
