10 RULES OF IMPROV—

Guidelines for Successful Improvisation

 

- Your partner is the most important person in the scene.

- Be real. Play the scenes legitimately and commit to your character.

- You don’t have to be funny. Improv can also be dramatic.

- Never say NO!!! Don’t deny. It stunts the scene’s growth!!

- Follow a basic story structure—Clear beginning, middle, and end

- Be a gift giver. Make your scene partner look good by giving them ideas and chocking the scene full of details.

- Keep open to the audience… no one wants to see your backside…

- If you create a door or an environment, don’t ruin it by walking through it at the end of the scene.

- Just go with it! Be prepared for anything!

- Don’t think, just do!!! Don’t talk about going bowling… BOWL! Show us!
