Dear Parents and Students,
I am Laura Tallo, and I will be teaching Basic Study Skills as well as Inclusion English and Algebra. Professionally, I am certified in Physical Education, Special Education, Supervisor of Student Teaching, and I hold a Master's Degree in Education. I am also a professional photographer and an artist. I render still life and portraiture in graphite, pastels, and egg tempera. I also make tatted lace, cross stitch on linen, and I can do English hand smocking. I speak and write a little French. I won't tell you how many years that I've taught, but it has been more than 15! I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children, and I will endeavor to help them have a successful year in spite of our difficulties!
I will be sending parent invitations as well as student invitations to REMIND and to Google Classroom. REMIND is a school approved app that allows me to text you, and you reach out to me. The school board can view these messages. Lessons will be taught both "paper and pencil" and online. Art will occasionally be incorporated into the lessons.
Google Classroom is also monitored. In addition to English and Algebra, lessons on life skills, job skills, and financial literacy will be taught.
It will be an interesting year. I will be provided with hand sanitizing gel and cleansers for my classroom. At this time, students must wear a mask while indoors. I would suggest that students have more than one mask in their booksack. If the one that they are wearing becomes "stale," then they can switch it out for a fresh one. It is so hard to wear the same mask all day.
