Dear Parents,

                                                                     ¡Bienvenidos!

Saludos! Greetings! My name is Mrs. Grillo.  I am a Spanish teacher here at Samsel Upper Elementary and I have the pleasure of teaching your child this year.

I have had the pleasure of teaching several subjects in both the private and public school system for many years. I have an M.A. in Education from St. Peter’s University and several New Jersey State Certifications. I am bilingual, and I have extensive knowledge on the Spanish culture and its language. I have a passion for teaching, as well, as for learning and I hope it will be contagious.

I am looking forward towards a great year and optimistic your child will enjoy learning in my class.  Your child will have the opportunity to learn about the Spanish language, Spanish countries and its history, geography, as well as the arts.

In order to have a successful and enjoyable year, I would like to review a few requirements and guidelines:

I)  Class will be instructed using In Class Instruction/OnCourse Classroom.

II) Supplies- Students should have a notebook, folder, small tape dispenser, scissors and a Spanish/English dictionary (optional).

II)  Students are required to follow classroom rules.

III) Students will be assigned homework/Class assignments, if class assignments are not completed in class they may  be completed at home when required by the teacher. All homework is visible and attainable online via OnCourse/Google Classroom or will be handed out in class.

IV) Grading policy is based on New Jersey State World Language Novice-Mid Standards. Please encourage your children to complete any homework assignments, Class work, and to participate in class as participation is part of their grade. As well as any test and quizzes will also count as part of their grades.

As parents, guardians and teachers we all want our children to succeed, so let's work together to make this a great year!  Please, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to email me at [email protected] or call me at 732 316-6354 and leave a message for Mrs. Grillo.  I would be able to respond faster by email as I check my email throughout the day.
