Greetings Parents and Guardians of Students in Mrs. Zarelli’s 7th Grade English class!

Welcome back! What an exciting time – your child is making the transition to middle school and many new adventures and challenges await! I would be willing to bet that for parents and students alike, in addition to all of the excitement and anticipation, there are a good amount of nerves lingering around as well. Fear not, though, because I am here to reassure you that your child’s Language Arts education is in good hands. They will be challenged, they will work hard, they will be encouraged to stretch themselves academically and intellectually – and they will be supported and encouraged every step of the way. I care deeply about the success of each and every one of my students and am personally invested in providing the highest quality of education as well as the individualized instruction that they need.

A little bit about my background and qualifications: I graduated with honors from West Chester University’s teaching program – one of the most rigorous and effective in Pennsylvania – from which I earned my Bachelors of Science in Education (B.S.ed) for English Literature. I hold my PA Teaching Certification as well as my New Jersey Teaching Certification and am licensed to teach K-12 English with Highly Qualified Teacher status. Prior to this year, I have experience teaching 8th grade literacy as well as High School English (ranging in levels from Applied to Honors), and an assortment of electives like SAT Prep, Debate, and Public Speaking. I also consider myself a life-long learner and eagerly attend professional development workshops as well as remain up to date on the latest research in education.

I consider it a great honor to be an educator and truly love what I do; my classroom atmosphere is one of support, warmth, rigor, and intellectual curiosity. My aim is for students to complete this class with not only a wealth of knowledge and skills in Language Arts, but also having strengthened their character in ways that will be invaluable to them as they go forward in school and life – such as work ethic, integrity, and communication skills.

I encourage you to reach out to me any time with questions or concerns. The best way to reach me is via email at [email protected].

Thank you,
