First Day Jitters

The first day of anything new can be overwhelming. As this day approaches take some time with your little one to talk about school and reaasure them that it is all going to be ok. Every child is different. Some may be excited and say, "See ya later, Mommy." While other ones may be shy and clinging to your leg saying, "Don't leave me." It is a transition for everyone. It is a transition for you as a parent to let your child go into the hands of a stranger and a transition for your little one to be at school all day. Please be assured that your child will be well taken care of. Brass Castle is a warm and inviting atmosphere for them. Everyone is around to help Kindergarten on their first day and even few weeks of school so we can all adjust to a new schedule.

Here are some things you can do to ease your child into the first few weeks of school.

-Talk to them. Explain what school is and who will be there.

-Make a countdown to the first day to get them excited.

-Explain how they will get to and from school.

-Remind them that they will meet new friends.

-Tell them they will have new things to play with in the classroom.

-Tell them we will be doing plenty of fun things. (singing, dancing, art projects, games, learning new things.)

- My favorite thing to do is to read "The Kissing Hand." I love this book for the first day of school and we will be doing activities to go along with it.

For the parents:

-Take a deep breath, wipe your tears away as that bus turns the corner, and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea knowing your little one is off growing and learning in a very warm and exciting environment.
