FLUENCY SHEETS
We are using the math program called Go Math! by Harcourt. Go Math is an excellent, comprehensive program which reflects all Common Core Standards for mathematics instruction.
Goals:
This curriculum is designed to advance students through grade-specific standards, develop a deeper understanding of skills, and work toward meeting the expectations of mathematics to prepare students for college and careers in order for them to succeed in the future.
*The goals of this curriculum will develop in our students the ability to:
1. make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
2. reason abstractly and quantitatively.
3. construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
4. model with mathematics.
5. use appropriate tools strategically.
6. attend to precision.
7. look for and make use of structure.
8. look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
Students can access their own practice account at ThinkCentral.com
Fact Fluency
In fourth grade, students are required to practice multiplication/division math facts nightly, Monday through Thursday. We utilize a weekly fact fluency contract provided to the students Monday, to be turned in on Friday. The link for the contract can be found below. The expectation is that students demonstrate proficiency by the end of fourth grade by successfully completing a minimum of 67 out of 80 problems in a timed, three-minute test for each multiplication and division. Automaticity with basic facts is a key to success.
